Qinghai-Tibet Railway's First 24 Women Train Drivers Start

 

The first group of 24 women train drivers of the China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group started their train-driving internship on August 5 after receiving three-month training session.

The Qinghai-Tibet Group launched a woman train-driver selection and training among the women employees at the grassroots stations for the first time in late March this year. Considering a wide range of requirements from age, education background and professional knowledge to physical condition, psychological quality and actual performance, the company selected 24 women employees and offered them training on train driving.

To improve the skills and professional abilities in an effective way, the company signed a closed training contract with Baoji Railway Technician College in North China's Shannxi Province.

The college optimized its course content and it offered special courses, including railway transportation, rules and regulations, locomotive expertise and psychology and physical training to these women employees.

Xu Lei, who successfully completed the training, said, "Working as a woman train driver is not only a glory, but also a responsibility. It requires hard work."

The internship will end at the end of September and these drivers will work as assistant drivers of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway from October 1, after obtaining their work certificate.
